Past Activities:

The Youth Against AIDS programme has since its formation by the young people been able to carry out a number of activities such as; FACE-TO-FACE Community Outreach programs, the commemoration of the International AIDS candle light memorial, International AIDS day celebration, ABC for all AIDS prevention campaign, Know Your Status campaign, etc. to name a few.
These activities are developed and implemented by youths in the organization and has been able to achieve its goal with the support of the Founder and Executive Director of AID.
As part of the successes recorded, the organization through its FACE-TO-FACE outreach program was able to convince over 3000 young people to get tested for HIV.
This is however a success for us as not many young people would like to get tested for the virus in fear of being pronounced positive.
The organization also was able to join some of its partners to plan and implement their own programs in Freetown, Bo and Makeni.
In 2010:
The Youth Against AIDS Programme is seeking to undertake a number of activities / projects for which it hopes to acquire funding to enable it successfully implement these activities. They are but not limited to:
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Embark on and strengthen our Community Outreach Campaign with deprived and underserved communities in Rural Freetown and selected Urban Areas, and in other provincial parts of the country where young people are vulnerable and can easily contract the disease due to lack of proper education and lack safe sexual practices.
NATIONAL YOUTH FORUM: Organize a National Youth Awareness Raising Forum to discuss and inform young people nation-wide about the present AIDS situation in the country and sound the trumpet of responsibility for young people to take positive actions to mitigate the negative impact of the disease on the youthful population nation-wide.
YOUTH AGAINST AIDS TASK FORCE: Organize and launch a Youth Against AIDS campaign taskforce which will be done by establishing the Youth Against AIDS school clubs in Freetown and other parts of the country. These clubs shall be responsible to assist in promoting the campaign and host awareness raising programs at campus levels.
SPORTS AS A CAMPAIGN TOOL: In Using sports as a very powerful tool for a successful campaign to combat the disease, we are planning to host a National Football friendly tournament / competition aiming at promoting interaction amongst young people especially those living with HIV/AIDS and those not effected with the disease in order to encourage care & support, advocate for free access to proper medical care for those effected with the disease and totally eradicate STIGMA and DISCRIMINATION.
PARTNERSHIP: As an organization truly committed to the fight against AIDS, we strongly believe that with a united force made up of dedicated like-minded people / organizations, we can win the fight against AIDS as Partners and therefore seek to strengthen and establish Partnerships and encourage collaboration with other local, Regional and Global Networking in order to achieve our one goal.
